코리안 아방가르드 룩을 대표하는 디자이너 박춘무. «無[무로부터]»는 데무 박춘무의 지난 30년 역사를 망라하는 패션 아카이브 전시다. 데무는 1988년 한국 하이 패션계에 별처럼 등장해 ‘데무 스타일’이라는 여성복의 새 시대를 열었다. 도식화된 의상 형태를 해체한 비정형적인 실루엣과 중성적인 디자인은 여성복에 대한 오랜 고정관념을 뒤엎는 파격 그 자체였다. 데무는 장식과 색채 사용을 극도로 절제함으로써 옷의 구조적인 형태를 부각하고, 무채색을 통해 색의 오묘한 깊이를 보여주는 전략을 취했다. 선과 면으로 분할된 기하학적인 데무의 옷은 몸의 움직임에 따라 유연하게 반응하고, 우연성에 의해 디테일이 달라졌다. 창조의 무한한 가능성을 상징하는 데무의 무채색 감성을 바탕으로 한 이번 전시는 날카로운 구조미와 실험 정신이 돋보이는 아카이브 의상들을 통해 의복의 본질에 대한 무수한 탐색과 질문, 대답을 찾아온 데무의 시간을 압축해 보여준다. 독창적인 디테일을 선보이는 해체주의 룩부터 절제의 미학을 담아낸 미니멀 룩까지, 데무의 옷을 입는다는 건 ‘혁신’이라는 애티튜드를 장착함을 의미한다. 데무의 견고하고 진취적인 패션 철학을 시각적인 언어로 전달하는 이번 전시는 패션의 무한한 가능성과 시대를 초월한 아름다움이 무엇인지를 명징하게 보여준다.
PARKCHOONMOO, a designer representing the Korean avant–garde look. From nothing is a fashion archive exhibition featuring the past 30 years of DÉMOO PARKCHOONMOO. DÉMOO, which appeared in the Korean fashion scene in 1988, opened a new era of women’s clothing called ‘DÉMOO style’. The informal silhouette that dismantled the pattern of the clothes and the epicene design were a shock that upset the stereotypes of women’s clothing. DÉMOO highlights the structural form of clothes by controlling the use of colors and decorations and shows the depth of color by using achromatic colors. Clothes divided by lines and faces respond flexibly to body movement and by chance, the details change. Based on DÉMOO’s achromatic sensibility, which symbolizes the infinite possibility of creation, the exhibition asks questions about nature of clothing through the sharp, structural and experimental archive costumes. From deconstructed look with inventive details to minimal look with less–is–more, wearing DÉMOO is a kind of attitude toward innovation. This exhibition, which demonstrates its substantial fashion philosophy in a visual language, shows the infinite possibilities of fashion and the timeless beauty of it.
